MSUM’s 2015 Prairie and Woodland Native Nations Fieldschool was held earlier this month

MSUM’s 2015 Prairie and Woodland Native Nations Fieldschool was held from June 13-21. During the nine day trip students, under the direction of Anthropology Professor Erik Gooding, visited and undertook research at historical landmarks and tribal and regional museums as well as interacted with tribal administrators, tribal members, and elders from the Sauk Nation of Kansas and Nebraska, the Iowa Nation of Kansas and Nebraska, and the Meskwaki Nation of Iowa. Students work focused on geospatial studies, archaeology, linguistic anthropology, and cultural anthropology.
