Defining Global Education in the U.S. today

Join us Wednesday, April 8 from Noon-1:00 pm in the Faculty Development Center for this first of three sessions on global education presented by Sheila Marquardt, John Benson, and Ok-Hee Lee. “Global Education” has become a buzzword in educational settings in the US. Higher Education, K-12 education, and both for and non-profit education organizations are tossing this concept around. While there is a recognized need for global education, how it is defined and why it matters to future generations are still questions many are asking. In this session, we offer some definitions of global education, and ask discussants to consider what this means and why it matters in light of the fulfilling our promise goals at MSUM.

The second session, “Strategies for incorporating Global Education in our classes” will be presented Friday, April 10 from Noon-1:00 pm, and the third session, “Global Education outside of our classrooms” will be presented Monday, April 13 from Noon-1:00 pm.
