Aaron Quanbeck presented at the Broadcast Education Association’s national convention
Aaron Quanbeck, an Associate Professor from the School of Communication and Journalism, presented his award-winning paper at the Broadcast Education Association’s national convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. BEA recognized Quanbeck’s research as the top debut paper in its Historical Division. First place winners in each division received a $200 award. Quanbeck’s paper was titled “A Rhetorical/Interpretive Analysis of Edward R. Murrow’s Criticism of Broadcast Journalism.” It examined Murrow’s 1958 speech to the Radio and Television News Director’s Association where he criticized the growing commercialization of broadcasting. Quanbeck is the program director for Campus News, MSUM’s student-produced newscast, which airs on Prairie Public Television during the spring semester.
