Linnae Simons selected to participate in the Katie Williams CARE Fellowship as a student representative

MSUM’s Early Childhood Education Team is proud to announce the selection of Linnae Simons to the Katie Williams CARE Fellowship as a student representative. Linnae is currently in our EECE Senior Block Cohort. She will be part of the Fellowship until June 2015.

Katie Williams CARE Fellowship

The CARE (Child Care Advocates Ready to Emerge) Fellowship is an opportunity for early childhood and school-age care professionals, parents and interested community members to:

  • Take time each month to deeply explore public policy topics that impact child care and children in Minnesota
  • Strengthen their understanding of the early childhood and school-age care system in Minnesota
  • Connect with other advocates from various sectors of the early childhood and school-age care fields
  • Discover new ways to advocate and make Minnesota better for all children

Each session will be led by an informed early childhood and/or school-age care leader and will draw on Minnesota experts to share the latest news, research and strategies to improve child care public policy.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Advocacy
  • Understanding the early care and learning system
  • Minnesota legislative process
  • Telling personal stories
  • Effective legislative meetings
  • Community organizing
  • Shared and earned media
  • Personal leadership style
