The Students are coming, the Students are coming!
We’re so excited for students to come back to campus we can hardly stand it! We’ve been busy over the summer with plenty of changes in the student union that we can’t wait to show off.
First, we are making way for the new MSUM Dining Services owned C-Store. Be excited, you can now use your Dragon Dollars to purchase items! They’ll be opening temporarily in the lower level of the student union in time for Orientation while construction proceeds on their new space next to Subs & Sweets.
Second, we completed a major re-carpeting project on the second floor of the CMU to give it a fresh new look! Anyone want to guess how many square feet of carpet we laid?
Third, we revamped the Admin Office front area to create the new Info Desk. The Info Desk will serve students, staff, faculty and guest of our building by providing help and information (you’d never have guessed that from the name, we’re sure.) In addition to being friendly faces, the staff can send faxes, sell stamps and envelopes, sell discount movie tickets, and provide equipment checkout. We are excited to have transformed the space into a service area that will better serve everyone who uses our building!
Finally, the Rainbow Dragon Center is relocating to room 218. Our maintenance workers Roger, Kevin and Missy are hard at work moving furniture so it will be ready for decorating by the RDC students. The RDC will be ready to welcome students back and show off thier new space by participating in the Dragons AfterDark event on August 23rd. (P.S. you should really come to the event, it’s going to be awesome– 9pm in the CMU for food, fun, games, and prizes!)
As much as we love Minnesota in the summer, all the staff in the student union are ready to welcome back our students and greet all the incoming students in the next few weeks!
