“Go Green” with course dropboxes

Want to help students manage their printing quota and reduce paper consumption?

If so, you may want to consider collecting and grading assignments online using your Desire2Learn or Moodle courses.

Both D2L and Moodle allow you to collect written assignments electronically from your students using a course dropbox. Students can easily upload their files into a folder that you’ve created for collecting the assignment. You can set a deadline when the assignment is due. You can choose to review and grade papers online within the course or download them to your computer to grade at a later time.

Student submissions will be date and time stamped so you can easily track which students have completed their assignments and when. The date and time stamp feature is especially useful for keeping track of assignments requiring multiple drafts. You can also set up group writing assignments, allowing group members to see when assignments have been submitted by other group members.
