Carol Sibley served as juror for poetry award winner

Carol Hanson Sibley, Library, recently served as one of the jurors appointed to select the 2010 winner of the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award. The award honors the “best” poetry book for children published in 2009. The committee selected “Button Up” by Alice Schertle as the winner. Three honor books were also named: “A Curious Collection of Cats” by Betsy Franco, “Crossing Stones” by Helen Frost, and “The Tree that Time Built” by Mary Ann Hoberman. The award is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Center for the Book.

Roberti Scholarship available to American Indian students

The Helen Roberti Charitable Trust has granted MSUM scholarship funds for American Indian students acquiring graduate and undergraduate degrees in such fields as law, medicine, education and other advanced degree vocations (All majors will be considered). V-Day MSUM presents The Vagina Monologues Feb. 14

V-Day Minnesota State University Moorhead 2010 will present a benefit production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre. For tickets, $3 single or $5 couple, contact the MSUM Box Office, 477-2271. More than 40 women from MSUM will participate in the production. Sponsored by MSUM Theatre Arts Department/Blackfriars, the benefit hopes to raise awareness to stop violence against women and girls and raise funds for our beneficiary—the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center of Fargo/Moorhead.
