MnSCU accepting diversity, academic and student affairs nominations

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is accepting nominations both for the annual Diversity and Multiculturalism Diversity Awards and for the Academic and Student Affairs Awards.

The Diversity and Multiculturalism Diversity Awards are in the following four categories:

· Best Practices in Diversity Award,

· New Innovative Practices in Diversity Award,

· Outstanding Student Organization Diversity Award, and

· Institutional Excellence Diversity Award.

The Academic and Student Affairs Awards are in the following four categories:

· Innovative Student Affairs Program,

· Excellence in Curriculum Programming,

· Outstanding Academic and Student Affairs Administrator, and

· Innovative Partnering and Collaboration.

The Diversity Awards are an honor designed to reward exceptional accomplishment in diversity and to encourage ongoing excellence. Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system faculty, staff and students are eligible to be nominated. The awards reflect the Board of Trustees’ pride in the diversity work that creates welcoming environments for all and prepares our students for their professional, scholarly and civic lives. Award winning institutions will receive a monetary benefit.

The Academic and Student Affairs Awards reflect the Board of Trustees’ pride in the excellence and innovation of academic and student affairs programs and people. Nominations for academic and student affairs awards may be submitted by any member of the college or university community, including members of advisory boards or committees.

The due date for submitting nominations for either award is February 8, 2010. The awards will be announced during a joint celebration to be held on May 26, 2010 at St. Paul College. Please reserve the date and join members of the Board of Trustees and Chancellor James McCormick in celebrating the recognition of these outstanding achievements in diversity and academic and student affairs. Further details about the event will be sent at a later date.

Included with this letter are materials to assist with the selection process. These documents provide guidelines for the nomination, instructions and necessary forms for compiling the portfolios and nominations and supporting documentation, and an overview of the selection and awards process.

These forms and other information will also be available on the web sites, www.diversity.mnscu.edu and www.asa.mnscu.edu. The programs are administered by the Office of the Chancellor’s Diversity and Multiculturalism and Academic and Student Affairs divisions.
