MSUM Names Write Site Director
Dr. Mike McCord will be the new director of the Write Site. Mike came to MSUM in 2002 where he has been the director of the First-Year English program for the past five years; he also sits on several university committees, including the Dragon Core Assessment Committee and the University Writing Committee. Before coming to MSUM, he gained twelve years of experience in writing centers. Mike began tutoring in the writing center at the University of Iowa, with Lou Kelly, the person widely credited with starting the writing center model, as his supervisor and mentor. While working on his Ph.D. at Louisiana State University, Mike was the assistant director of the writing center and was responsible for scheduling, technology, and tutor mentoring and training. He also has several publications and conference presentations that focus on writing center research and theory.
