The Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery presents: “APTitude” Aug. 21– Sept. 7.

We invite you to an exhibition of artists residing at APT: A Creative Incubator, located in Fargo, ND. The mission of APT is “to provide a creative, collaborative and safe place for artists to make art and for the community to collide with it.”  The opening reception is this Thursday, Aug. 24 from 4-7 p.m.; refreshments will be served. This is the last week to view exhibitions Night Walk, We the Creatures and Sen5es in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery (CA 155).

Night Walk by Spencer Johannes showcases ceramic pieces that were created as a part of his professional portfolio development certificate. We the Creatures features the artwork of Drawing II students created in classes taught by Corinne Teed and Jim Park. This exhibit featured larger-than-life animal fragments combined with human figures drawn in chalk on a black wall. Sen5ses is a community juried exhibition, curated and organized by students in ART 498: Exhibitions, taught by Kelli Sinner. The School of Art at Minnesota State University Moorhead invites the public to the reception for the exhibitions Night Walk, We the Creatures and Sen5es, on Thursday, April 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery (CA 155).

MSUM to host first juried interactive art exhibition: Sen5es

Minnesota State University Moorhead is proud to announce its first juried interactive art exhibition: Sen5es.

The School of Art is calling on artists to create and submit artwork that engages at least two of the 5 traditional senses—sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing. All submitted artworks should be designed to be interacted with and experienced by the viewer.

Chinese Pastel Artist, Painter Spending Year at MSUM

Chinese artist Hao Lin was so impressed with the work of MSUM artist-teacher Zhimin Guan, he uprooted himself and his family to live in Moorhead and study with Guan for an entire year. Lin received a visiting artist grant from his university, supported by the Chinese ministry of education. Lin considered many artists around the world, and ultimately chose Guan as his mentor. He has been studying with Guan and working as a visiting professor in his painting and drawing classes since last March.  Read the rest of this entry →

‘Clever Subterfuge’

The School of Visual Arts invites the public to view the exhibition “Clever Subterfuge” at the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery. Curated by BFA candidate Jesse Suppa, this exhibition features artwork created by current MSUM art students across a variety of media. Visiting Artist Exhibition: M.A. Papanek-Miller and Jenni Brant

The Department of Art and Design invites the public to the Visiting Artist Exhibition: M.A. Papanek-Miller & Jenni Brant at the Roland Dille Center for Arts Gallery (CA 155), on view from Jan. 13 – 30. M.A. Papanek-Miller is a mixed media artist working primarily with woven and layered images that provoke environmental concerns specifically with animals and regarding water access, use and ownership. Jenni Brant is a ceramic artist who creates elegantly crafted serving vessels and dinnerware meant to ritualize, celebrate and bring merriment to the everyday activities of eating and serving food.

Opening reception: Thursday, Jan. 23, 4 – 6 p.m. Artist talk in the gallery, 5 p.m.
Gallery Hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
