Welcome Week Schedule

Faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to attend in the following Welcome Week events:

Tuesday, August 16

  • President’s Opening Address
  • 9-10 a.m. in Hansen Theatre, Roland Dille Center for the Arts Building
  • All faculty and staff should attend (offices may close at supervisor’s discretion)

Wednesday, August 17

  • A Respectful Campus: Understanding and Addressing Workplace Bullying Training
  • 6:30-8:30 a.m.; 9:30-11:30 a.m.; 1-3 p.m. in Langseth Hall 104
  • All faculty and staff should attend (offices may close at supervisor’s discretion)

Thursday, August 18

  • Residence Hall Move-In Day; you’re invited to welcome and assist students and their families as they move-in
  • 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; contact Heather Phillips (phillipshe@mnstate.edu) to sign up for a shift and receive your t-shirt
  • Check in at the Welcome Tent, located north of West Snarr Hall

Friday, August 19

  • Convocation
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Nemzek Hall

Move-in Day | August 20 | 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Welcome Week for incoming freshmen and transfer students is Aug. 20–23. MSUM puts on one of the most extensive orientation week programs.

“Dragon Welcome Week really gives students an all-around experience that encompasses various activities and events,” Mitch Johnson, the assistant director of First Year Programs said. “We make sure to pack our days full of activities to keep our students busy, help them get involved, and really feel at home in the Dragon community.” Read the rest of this entry →

Campus Sustainability seeks volunteers for 3rd annual Kung-Fu Box-O-Rama move-in day event

Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 4-6 p.m. to help decorate and setup, and Wednesday, Aug. 21 for two-hour shifts between 8 a.m.-6 p.m.  Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to click this link to sign up! 

Kung-Fu Box-O-Rama is the name given to the move-in day cardboard recycling effort sponsored by the Office of Campus Sustainability.  The purpose of the event is to educate and assist our new freshmen and their families about cardboard recycling on campus.  Last year, with help from the Green Dragons, the MSUM Housing Department, as well as student, faculty, and alumni volunteers, the event recycled nearly 3 tons of cardboard! Second Annual Kung-Fu Box-O-Rama

Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s move-in cardboard recycling effort the Office of Campus Sustainability will be hosting its 2nd annual Kung-Fu Box-O-Rama. The purpose of the event is to educate and assist our new freshmen and their families about cardboard recycling on campus. Last year, with help from the Green Dragons, the MSUM Housing Department, as well as student, faculty, and alumni volunteers, the event recycled nearly 3 tons of cardboard!
