Mini-satellite Exhibit on the work of an Armenian Immigrant Artist

The Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center is displaying a mini-satellite exhibit of Armenian immigrant artist Norick Astvatsaturov. This mini-exhibit displays photographs of Astvatsaturov’s work, including a Reliquary Icon and Bible Cover, as well as a ten minute documentary that was made about his life and work. The Hjemkomst Center is located at 202 First Avenue North in Moorhead. The exhibit ends April 7.

Historical & Cultural Society Annual Meeting March 11

The Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center will hold the 2010 Annual Meeting Dinner on Thursday, March 11, 2010. The agenda will be as follows: refreshments and a walk through the Flaten-Wange exhibit at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7:30 p.m. In addition to electing new members to the board, guests can enjoy a local-foods dinner and small silent auction of locally-made-goods baskets. A Woman’s Perspective on Work & Play Opens Monday

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center is
proud to announce the opening of A Woman’s Perspective on Work and Play,
beginning Monday, January 25 through Tuesday, March 30. A Woman’s Perspective (AWP) is an un-juried, multimedia art exhibition,
featuring visual, literary and performing art by emerging and established
regional artists. This year’s theme is Work and Play, including a special
supplemental exhibit on art aprons as a symbol of the intersection of work and

Merger of Two Non-Profits at the Hjemkomst Center Open House Scheduled

The Clay County Historical Society and the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center are now officially merged to become the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County with a mission to preserve, interpret and celebrate the history and culture of Clay County and the region. An open house to celebrate this merger of two well established organizations has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a chamber ribbon cutting to take place at 4 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
