Terry Shoptaugh’s new book launched in Bismarck

Terry Shoptaugh, University Archivist, had his latest book officially “launched” April 5 at the North Dakota Capitol in Bismarck. They Were Ready focuses on the 164th Infantry Regiment during World War II and includes the stories of 70 World War II veterans of the unit with original art work by Doug Burtell of Bowman. Bernard Wagner, a Valley City veteran of WWII and Korea, and president of the 164th Infantry Veteran’s Association, introduced the book at the ceremony. Shoptaugh’s other books include You Have Been Kind Enough to Assist Me: Herman Stern and the Jewish Refugee Crisis (2008) and Moorhead, MN (Images of America) (2004).

Book features chapter by Bolduc

A recent book, “Institutional Analysis and Praxis: The Social Fabric Matrix Approach,” includes a chapter by Steven Bolduc, Economics. Bolduc’s contribution, “Ceremonial Dimensions of Market-based Pollution Control Instruments: The Clean Air Act and the Cap-and-Trade Model,” argues that inquiry guiding policy design and assessment should be guided by the recognition of social, ecological, and technological interdependence, and not only by narrowly conceived economic criteria. The volume was released in September 2009 by Springer Science+Business Media.
