Funeral services for Krista McCleary, the MSUM junior killed in a car accident Tuesday afternoon, will be held on Sunday, December 20 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Fargo. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 19 at Hanson/Runsvold Funeral Home from 4-6 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm. Krista McCleary, a junior at MSUM, was killed in a car accident yesterday
afternoon in Moorhead. Krista was majoring in Health Services Administration with a minor in Management. Krista was an active member of the Health Care Leadership organization and also involved with Campus Crusade for Christ on our campus. Krista was a 2006 graduate from Fargo South and was living in south Fargo. At this time, funeral arrangements are pending. When we receive information on the funeral arrangements or if there will be any memorial event on our campus, we will send the notification on Dragon Digest.
MSUM’s Steel Drum and Salsa ensemble, Fuego Tropical, recently completed three performances at elementary schools in Fargo, West Fargo, and Barnesville. Each fall, the ensemble accepts a limited number of invitations to present an educational performance about music of the Caribbean to school-aged children. Teachers at each school are given a packet of educational activities in subjects ranging from music to science, creative writing, history, geography, and art to help prepare for the ensemble’s arrival. Directed by Dr. Kenyon Williams and aided by Marlowe Kulish, the ensemble has performed at over 30 different schools for thousands of area children over the past seven years. “This was far and away the best program we’ve ever hosted at our school,” raved Todd Henrickson, principal of Barnesville Elementary to the MSUM students after their performance. “I’ve never seen our students so attentive and involved in an event…much less an EDUCATIONAL event of this calibre!”
