New York Experience on display through May 15

“A New York Experience,” an exhibit featuring work created by MSUM students while on a travel study course to New York City last summer, will be on display at the Red Wing Arts Association’s Depot Gallery in Red Wing, Minn. The exhibit runs April 9 to May 15. Professor John Volk organized and led the trip. Art faculty, students have work selected for exhibitions

Department of Art & Design students and faculty have had work selected for local, national and international exhibitions recently. The students of the advanced sculpture class have submitted designs for a public art piece that will be installed outside of the Plains Art Museum for the next year. The proposals were voted on by the public and the piece will be created by the end of the semester. Click headline for more great news about our faculty and students.

Upcoming Diversity Week events

The MSUM Student Senate has numerous events planned for the 2010 Diversity Week, including keynote speaker TJ Leyden, who will talk on “Turning from Hate” Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the CMU Ballroom. After 15 years as a neo-Nazi white supremacist activist and recruiter, Tom “TJ” Leyden experienced a profound change of heart, turned away from hate and began teaching tolerance. Theatre Arts Department receives national accolades

MSUM Theatre Arts received commendations from the national selection team of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for its recent production of How Will You Know Us Now, or Anytime? The entire departmental faculty and staff were recognized for high production values in the development and support of student-written work. Additional notices went to MSUM students Joy Dolo for her performance of Janice, and Richard Paul Klein for Playwriting. Click headline to see photo.
