Inclusion through art: Service learning project connects autistic children, families with the arts

The course: Effective Teaching 413. The teacher: Camille Brandt, assistant professor of special education. The idea: A special community service learning project. The result: A more inclusive place for children with autism.

Alumna Angela Harvala won the Milken Educator Award

Angela Harvala, an alumna of Minnesota State University Moorhead, won the Milken Educator Award and $25,000 to spend however she wishes. She received a B.S. in elementary education in 2006. The Milken Educator Awards was conceived by the Milken Family Foundation to attract, retain and motivate outstanding talent to the teaching profession.
