The course: Effective Teaching 413. The teacher: Camille Brandt, assistant professor of special education. The idea: A special community service learning project. The result: A more inclusive place for children with autism.
Dr. David Tack, STL, was invited to be the closing keynote speaker at the Minnesota Correctional Education Association Conference on April 7 in Bloomington, Minn. His address (“Creating Community Within the Learning Environment”) was delivered to over 160 educators and administrators in the Minnesota juvenile detention system.
Angela Harvala, an alumna of Minnesota State University Moorhead, won the Milken Educator Award and $25,000 to spend however she wishes. She received a B.S. in elementary education in 2006. The Milken Educator Awards was conceived by the Milken Family Foundation to attract, retain and motivate outstanding talent to the teaching profession.
