All students are invited to join choir at MSUM. Festival Men’s Choir (M/W, 3-3:50) and Festival Women’s Choir (T/Th, 3-3:50) are offered to students from any major. No audition is required.
Terrie Manno (SPA Music Department) presented two papers at the International Society of Music Education conference in Glasgow, Scotland. Her recent work on the neurological processes of learning and performing music resulted in a presentation with Dr. Michael Dean (Oklahoma Baptist University) titled Strengthening Mental Focus.
Terrie Manno’s article, titled “What are they thinking? The key to your students’ best performances” has been published in the May/June 2016 edition of Clavier Companion, “The Piano Magazine.” Her thesis is that music students perform more successfully when they have developed and practiced mental thought streams that they link and sync to the physical execution of their work.
