Aidan Shafer ranks in top third of Putnam Mathematical Competition

Congratulations to Aidan Shafer, double major in Mathematics and Physics, who ranked in the top third of the Putnam Mathematical Competition, held on December 3, 2016. The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is the preeminent mathematics competition for undergraduate college students in all the United States and Canada. On the last edition there were 4,164 contestants from 568 institutions.

Zehren honored at MAFAA Conference

The Minnesota Association of Financial Aid Administrators (MAFAA) honored Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Carolyn Zehren last week. Zehren, who serves as MSUM’s Director of Scholarship and Financial Aid, was awarded the Special Achievement Award. Zehren’s recognition was for the significant contributions, enthusiasm, and service she has provide to the MAFAA membership and to the people of Minnesota.

MSUM’s Annual Math Team Contest Winners

Twenty MSUM students participated in the Mathematics Department’s 2nd Annual Math Team Contest on Saturday, April 22.  team came in first place with Elias Eid, Sam Holen, and Jennifer Williams, each earning $100 in prize money. Bradbury earns additional QM Certification for course design

Dr. Boyd Bradbury, School of Teaching & Learning, earned Quality Matters Certification for his online course: ED 701 Introduction to Advanced Scholarship and Leadership. This is Dr. Bradbury’s seventh course to earn QM Certification. QM reviews are a rigorous peer review process, recognized at both the state and national levels.
