Merrie Sue Holtan, Communication and Journalism, earned first place awards in sports writing and home writing in the North Dakota Professional Communicators’ state competition. She earned a second place in sports writing and an honorable mention in feature writing. The first place awards will move to the National Federation of Presswomen competition in Birmingham, Ala., this fall.

The MSUM Planetarium has been awarded $9,000 to undertake a large-scale mural project. The MSUM Planetarium, Youth Educational Services (YES) and MSUM School of Art, will plan and execute several large-scale astronomically and educationally based glow-in-the dark murals for the entrance and inside of the MSUM Planetarium.
