Tim Abate ’15 (physics), who is will be starting his Ph.D. at Stanford University this fall, won a prestigious competition this summer. He was at Los Alamos National Labs doing a summer internship in materials science. Abate won their poster competition in the category of materials science. There were a total of 500 entries across all categories of the competition.
Steve Lindaas, Physics and Astronomy, attended the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) summer conference last week. On Monday morning, thanks to the efforts of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and several members of the FM Astronomy Club, members of the MSUM community moving to and fro between finals got to witness the rare sight of the planet Mercury passing between Earth and the Sun.
