Best Read Aloud book bibliography online

“Best Read Aloud Picture Books,” is a new online bibliography available from the Curriculum Materials Center at MSUM’s Livingston Lord Library. The bibliography provides lists of picture books, published between 2004 and 2008, that are highly recommended for reading aloud to children. The bibliography is divided by age levels: toddlers-age 5; ages 6-8, and ages 9-12. Click headline for more information and link to the bibliography.

Celebrate National Library Week April 11-17

Livingston Lord Library will celebrate National Library week with a lecture event featuring Greg Breining, Wednesday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m. in Science Lab 118. Breining will talk about his book, A Hard-Water World: Ice Fishing and Why We Do It. Refreshments will be served with a book signing to follow. Travis Dolence receives MERLOT award

Congratulations to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, and also to Travis Dolence, MSUM’s Distance Learning Librarian, for being recognized by MERLOT (the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) with a “MERLOT Outstanding Partner Award” for significant contributions and support to academic technologies and educational leadership. This award is reserved for partner institutions with a five-year history as a MERLOT Higher Education Partner or Affiliate. Dolence is on the Editorial Board for MERLOT’s Library and Information Services division. He’ll be attending the Sloan Consortium/MERLOT/MoodleMoot symposium, “Emerging Technologies for Online Learning,” July 20-23, 2010, in San Jose, Calif. MnSCU will be recognized during a special ceremony at the conference for its work with MERLOT.

Higher Education Notebook

Two Moorhead campus projects included in bill Moorhead campuses are pleased with a proposed bonding bill that includes support for two major building projects. The bill, as proposed by the House and Senate last week, includes $14.9 million to renovate Livingston Lord Library at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
