The MSUM Guitar Ensemble performs on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Fox Recital Hall. It’s free and open to the public. The High Plains Reader calls it a ‘Best Bet’: “The MSUM guitar ensemble consists of five or six guitar players, a bass player, and a percussionist. Past performances have been refreshingly original, playing seldom heard works.”
“In Pieces”, a story highlighting the issue of domestic violence told through live rock music and video, will be showing Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre. It’s free to students; general admission is $5. The story line follows an abused woman and her young child and also the life of her abuser. Emphasis is placed on the cycle of violence showing the correlation of abuse in a home with child witnesses. There is a strong message of the impact of abuse along with a hopeful message of survival and new beginnings. Click headline for more information.
The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County will host a panel of local people who originate from Asia on Tuesday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hjemkomst Center, 202 1st Ave. N., Moorhead. Held in conjunction with the exhibit Asian Games: The Art of Contest, the panel will discuss different cultural traditions in their countries of origin. The fall event will be held on Tuesday, December 15 in the CMU Ballroom. There will be a light luncheon starting at 11:30am with the program at 12:15pm.
