N.D. Senator Dorgan on campus Friday

Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) will speak about our nation’s polarized political discourse Friday, March 26 at 11 a.m. in Weld Hall Glasrud Auditorium. The topic has broad relevance, covering ethics, political science, mass communications, and speech communications. As you may know, Senator Dorgan announced his retirement in January. He has served in public office since 1968. When he steps down at the end of his current term, he will have served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and three terms as a U.S. Senator. The True Meaning of No and Yes March 30

Dr. Chizuko Shastri will deliver a talk on “The True Meaning of No and Yes (Japanese Culture),” Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. in Jones Science 210 at Concordia College. Shastri will offer a view of Japanese culture as it relates to American traditions. She will address specific distinctions as they relate to group orientation, hierarchy, education, work setting and religion. It’s free and open to the public.

Safe Zone training April 12

The Office of Multculturalism will hold a Safe Zone training Monday, April 12 from 9-11a.m. in CMU 227. Safe Zone seeks to form a network of students, faculty and staff committed and trained to provide safe, non-judgmental and supportive contacts for all MSUM community members who may be dealing with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or questioning issues. Miz Wizard’s Science Secrets March 23

Miz Wizard’s Science Secrets presented by Jane Curry will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. in King Hall 110. It’s free and open to the public. Barbara Knight, aka Miz Wizard, tells stories about women’s contributions to science, engineering, invention, and math; revolutionary research and media portrayals; and obstacles faced and overcome by women whose passion is discovery. African Drum and Dance Workshops this week

The MSUM Percussion Studio is proud to host guest Guinean Master Drummer Fode Bangoura and Minneapolis-based African dance instructor Whitney McClusky for a workshop series this coming week. Workshops are open to all ages and the general public, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays nights from 7-10 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre.
