Minnesota’s cash situation unknown while lawmakers address remaining deficit

Members of the Legislative Commission on Planning and Fiscal Policy’s Balanced Budget Subcommittee received an update this week from Minnesota Management and Budget, or MMB, about the state’s cash situation. MMB Budget Deputy Commissioner Jim Schowalter told committee members that Minnesota will not have to borrow money to pay its bills this spring, but cash flow shortfalls are still a possibility for later this year. Best Read Aloud book bibliography online

“Best Read Aloud Picture Books,” is a new online bibliography available from the Curriculum Materials Center at MSUM’s Livingston Lord Library. The bibliography provides lists of picture books, published between 2004 and 2008, that are highly recommended for reading aloud to children. The bibliography is divided by age levels: toddlers-age 5; ages 6-8, and ages 9-12. Click headline for more information and link to the bibliography.

Lavender reception April 18

A Lavender reception recognizing all local LGBTQ college students and their campus Allies and Advocates will be held Sunday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at the ECCE Gallery, 216 Broadway, Fargo. Those LGBTQ graduate and undergraduate students completing their college careers will be honored as Lavender Graduates at the reception, but all LGBTQ students and allies are welcome. This is a quad college event (NDSU, Concordia, and MCTC will also participate.)
