Queen Elizabeth I is most famous for leading her army in the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588. Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani school girl who stood up to the Taliban and defended her right to an education. She is the youngest ever Nobel Peace prize laureate.

Marie Curie became the first person ever to have been given two Nobel Prizes in separate categories. Mary Wollstonecraft wrote a significant book in the early feminist movement. Her book laid a very clear framework for extending political and human rights to women.

International Women’s Day

Celebrate International Women’s Day as part of MSUM’s Women’s History Month on Tuesday, March 8, from 12 -3 p.m. in the Women’s Center (154 Bridges).
