2009 Mascot Challenge: Keep Doug Peters in Red

The MSUM Dragons, along with the North Dakota State University Bison and Concordia College Cobbers are excited to announce their partnership to compete in the 2nd annual Mascot Challenge benefiting The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign. The 2009 Mascot Challenge will take place in the entrance to the West Acres Mall in Fargo, N.D. on Dec. 12. The challenge will begin at 12:30 p.m. through 8 p.m. and will feature athletes, coaches and staff as bell ringers. 31 Dragons Named to the NSIC Fall Academic All-Conference Team

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced its All-Academic Teams of the 2009 Fall athletic season. Thirty-one MSUM Dragons athletes were named on the list. To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 pr better. Tvrdik named AVCA All-Region

American Volleyball Coaches Association announced their 2009 All-Region team selections on Nov. 30. Dragons rightside hitter, Laura Tvrdik was selected to the honorable mention team. Tvrdik ended the 2009 season leading the team with 362 kills hitting .324. She was a first team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate selection after leading the league after ending the season ranked sixth in the league in hitting percentage. The Dragons volleyball team ended sixth in the league with a 21-12 record.

Johnson invited to play in All-American Bowl

MSUM senior wide receiver, Joe Johnson has been invited to play in the All-American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minn. On Dec. 12, 2009. Johnson finished his career with the Dragons this past November, as he led the Dragons in punt returns, kick returns and receiving. In his senior year, he returned 18 punts for a total of 120 yards, while averaging 18.1 yards per kick return on 41 returns. Johnson had 55 catches for 537 yards in 2009, averaging just under 50 yards per game. For complete story go here:
