Accessibility Compliance Deadline Postponed
Dragon Community,
Our MSUM Digital Accessibility Subcommittee would like to share the most current update related to digital accessibility compliance. On Monday, 4/20, the U.S. Department of Justice extended the current ADA Title II digital accessibility compliance deadline. The deadline has shifted from April 24, 2026, to April 26, 2027.
While this extension provides additional time, it does not change our strategic direction nor our expectations towards digital accessibility. Instead, it reinforces the importance of maintaining a proactive, forward looking approach. Our continued diligence remains a priority to be more prepared next year than we are today to meet the access needs of our campus community.
This period should not be viewed as an opportunity to slow our efforts or pause progress. It is critical we continue to strengthen our practices, deepen our understanding, and accelerate the work already underway. Utilizing your campus resources and campus leadership will be essential as we move toward full compliance and, more importantly, toward a more equitable and accessible university.
Thank you
