Learning Communities Continue Site Visits
Learning Communities continue their site visits in an effort to explore potential career paths related to their majors.
The Human Services Learning Community visited the West Central Juvenile Detention Center where they received a tour of the facility and discussed current mental health barriers that are affecting the center.
The Education Learning Community recently sat in on a kindergarten class at Ellen Hopkins Elementary School. During this visit, LC students assisted in setting up a classroom for an art lesson and then observing two 30-minute class sessions. This allowed students to gain valuable hands-on experience in a field most students are interested in exploring.
Lastly, the Science & Health Learning Community visited the Sanford hospital in Fargo which consisted of a tour of the hospital, observing the helicopter, and exploring floors geared towards different specialty areas.
The Learning Community program will host 5 more site visits before the end of the fall semester.
