MSUM Students, Watson & Ishaug, present at national planetarium conference
Emily Watson and Cassie Ishaug presented at the Great Lakes Planetarium Assn annual conference in conjunction with Western Alliance Conferences at the Riverfront Museum in Peoria, IL.
Emily, 4th year physics/astrophysics major, presented on the work she has been doing in the planetarium with the open source software, OpenSpace. She has been working with OpenSpace developers and American Museum of Natural History and has been developing a more streamlined way to put custom constellation artwork into OpenSpace. The title of her paper was “Connecting The Dots: Building A Gui For Custom Constellations In OpenSpace”
Cassie, 4th year TESL & Spanish major, presented on her varied work in the planetarium including translating shows from English to Spanish, helping to fine tune scripts, reimagining preexisting shows from other planetariums, and creating her own custom shows. The title of her paper was “If You Give An Undergrad A Planetarium: Student-Developed Planetarium Programming.”
