MSUM student burned by grease in kitchen fire
An MSUM student living in Holmquist Hall is being treated for burns following a Sunday afternoon kitchen grease fire. Holmquist Hall was briefly evacuated after emergency alarms went off at 1:30 p.m. The fire was out by the time fire fighters arrived.
“Every residence hall has fire extinguishers, detectors, alarms and fire drills for just these types of situations,” said Doug Peters, interim vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. “Fortunately, this fire was quickly contained. Our thoughts are with our student as we wish her a quick recovery.”
Because the fire was quickly extinguished and there was no danger to others, an E2Campus notification was not sent.
