Bachmeier helps launch Airport Art Program at Hector International Airport

A new Airport Art Program at Hector International Airport is expanding regional cultural representation for the millions of travelers who pass through Fargo-Moorhead each year.

Over the past 18 months, Brad Bachmeier, Art Professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead, played a key role in leading the development of the program and now serves on the Airport Art Committee. He also co-authored the Airport Art Program Policies, establishing a framework for acquiring, displaying, and stewarding artwork throughout the airport.

The initiative will significantly increase the presence of regional visual art, helping the airport tell the story of the Fargo-Moorhead area while aligning with national best practices that recognize art’s role in reducing travel anxiety and enhancing passenger experience.

A notable component of the program includes plans for an immersive Virtual Reality space, integrating emerging technology into the airport’s cultural amenities.

Together, these efforts position Hector International Airport as a more regionally and nationally competitive facility, strengthening its identity as a cultural gateway and public space.
