Erienne Fawcett receives 2025 Moorhead Human Rights Award

Erienne Fawcett, Minnesota State Moorhead’s coordinator of Gender and Sexuality, received the 2025 Moorhead Human Rights Award in Education at last night’s Moorhead City Council meeting.

Erienne with Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson. The award Erienne is holding was crafted by Brad Bachmier, School of Art, who was also Erienne’s 7th grade art teacher and one of her favorites! “His art has moved me since I was a youngster,” she said.

Senior Megan Oyerly, treasurer for Campus Feminist Organization and president of Dragon Pride Alliance, nominated Erienne for the award. As the only student to make a nomination this year, Erienne says, “It means a lot to me since my job and passion literally has student advocacy in the PD.”

From Erienne’s nomination: Erienne “is a mentor of mine that I met through the Rainbow Dragon Center and Women’s Center at MSUM.” “Erienne has spearheaded the growth of the MSUM Women’s Center and Rainbow Dragon Center and increased attendance at ODI programs.” “She has partnered with several student organizations to build and maintain these communities at MSUM.”
