José Bowen is generally one of the most interesting people in a room. He’s an entrepreneur, academician, author, TED talker, podcaster, and most interestingly of all, a jazz pianist and conductor who has appeared on five continents with Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby McFerrin, Liberace, and many others. His compositions include a symphony (nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Music in 1985), and music for Jerry Garcia.

When he’s at MSUM on Monday, April 14, he won’t be performing on piano, but he will share his insights from over 40 years leading innovation and change. His talk is the culmination of MSUM’s common book read, “Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning.” Bowen is a pioneer in active learning and the use of technology in the classroom.

Under Bowen’s leadership as president of Goucher College, it was voted a Top 10 Most Innovative Colleges. He now runs Bowen Innovation Group L.L.C., and does innovation, pedagogy, consulting and training in both higher education and for Fortune 500 companies.

Reserve your free ticket to one of this year’s most interesting and relevant talks. Seating is limited, so you are encouraged to register for your spot soon! After March 24, tickets will be made available to the public.
