MSU Moorhead sees significant growth in new student enrollment
Minnesota State University Moorhead began classes this week with new student enrollments that are well ahead of projections.
Overall, new student enrollments are up 8%, which includes:
- New transfer enrollments up 16%
- New graduate enrollments up 18%
- New military-connected enrollments up 29%
- University enrollments are approaching a 1% overall increase
“We are excited to welcome a larger class of new students to the university,” said MSUM President Tim Downs. “We are doing a better job of telling our story. We offer great programs that students want and that are aligned with industry needs.”
Growth stems from a variety of strategic investments.
- The Master of Social Work graduated its first cohort last spring. Now that we have two full years of welcoming new cohorts each semester, we have grown the program to nearly 50 students.
- Demand for the EdD program prompted the addition of a second fall cohort.
- A three-year, $453,425 grant to develop a new Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success has helped us be intentional about creating the connections and services veterans need to be successful.
- The Master of Business Administration now offers an in-person option in addition to online learning.
And, we’ll be making mid-year investments that will continue the growth trajectory. Two new graduate programs are expected to begin this spring – a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and a Master of Science in Business Analytics.
“We are poised for the future,” Downs said. “It’s a great day to be a Dragon!”
