Dr. Aaron Quanbeck elected as President of the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association’s Board of Directors
Dr. Aaron Quanbeck, a professor in MSUM’s School of Communication and Journalism, has been elected as president of the Midwest Broadcast Journalist’s Association’s Board of Directors.
The Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association (formerly called the Northwest Broadcast News Association) was founded in 1948 and was created to support electronic journalists with training and networking opportunities and encourage career growth. The board is made up of representatives from the six-state region of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska. Each year the MBJA board, in partnership with other journalism organizations, hosts the Midwest Journalism Conference, which offers training sessions to aspiring journalists and working professionals. The MBJA also sponsors the annual Eric Sevareid Awards, which honors work done by broadcast news operations and journalists across the six-state region.
Dr. Quanbeck has taught at MSUM since 2007 and is the Program Director for Campus News, a student-produced newscast that airs on Prairie Public Television during the spring semester.
