Workday Training Communication #2

Workday Training Communication #2 – March 25, 2024

Greetings,

Workday is coming and that means so is Workday training! With just over three months until the implementation of the human capital management and finance modules of Workday, now is the perfect time to familiarize yourself with Workday and the training you will be provided to successfully complete your duties in Workday.

As you learned in the March 11 communication, all Minnesota State employees will be required to complete training to prepare for the move to Workday in July. Please note: if you are a contracted employee or a concurrent enrollment instructor, you will receive separate communication on Workday training requirements.

What is a Workday Security Role and How are Security Roles Assigned?

Workday security roles make sure the appropriate tasks, actions, and data flow to the correct individuals for the completion of business processes. Leaders at each institution in both human resources and finance have assigned security roles to each position based on the position’s job duties.

All Minnesota State employees will have at least one security role, called Employee as Self. Depending on an employee’s responsibilities, they may have additional security roles and therefore additional training to complete.

What Training Will All Employees Complete?

In early April, computer-based training courses for all employees will be available through the Enterprise Learning Management System (ELM). All employees have the Employee as Self security role, which is assigned the following computer-based training courses:

    WD01 Workday Core Concepts
    WD02 Workday Navigation and Features
    WD03 Finding Information in Workday
WD04 Employee Self-Service: My Information in Workday
WD05 Employee Self-Service: Managing Time and Absence in Workday

Note: If you handle private data, please complete the Public Jobs and Private Data course in the Enterprise Learning Management system before beginning Workday training.

Note: estimated time to complete all courses listed above is 3 hours.

To learn more about the training for all employees as well as training for managers, cost center managers, and employees in human capital management and finance, see the Workday Training Guide.

The Workday Training Team will continue providing timely updates leading up to the training program’s launch. For more on the implementation of Workday, see Friends of NextGen for project resources and updates.

Thank you,
