Providing Safe Places
Read the story about MSUM identity centers
Erienne Fawcett, MSUM’s coordinator of gender and sexuality in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, knows it’s important to create welcoming centers for all students so they can safely share their authentic selves.
“It’s important for students to know these spaces exist. They are innovative, always changing, and we’re always learning. I want to offer support wherever and however I can.” ~ Erienne Fawcett
She supervises two of four MSUM identity centers: the Women’s Center and the Rainbow Dragon Center. Other campus centers include the American Indian Center and the Intercultural Center, all designed to be safe places for students. Connecting with students or anyone who uses these resources is an important part of her position. She prides herself in being a mentor students feel comfortable coming to.
Erienne’s story appeared in the August/September Area Woman magazine. You can also read the story on our story site.
