MSUM sponsoring, participating in Fargo-Moorhead Pride

MSUM is a proud sponsor of and participant in Fargo-Moorhead Pride.

On Saturday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. stop by the MSUM booth at Pride in the Park (Island Park, Fargo) to say hi to SPECTRUM student leaders, Admissions staff, and Rainbow Dragon Center staff.

MSUM students, faculty, and staff are invited to ride the Dragon train during the FM Pride Parade on Sunday, Aug. 13. Those wishing to join us on the Dragon Express train should meet at the Physical Plant between 1:00-1:15 p.m. or meet us downtown by the parade staging area (corner of NP and Broadway, Fargo) at 1:30 p.m. The parade begins at 2 p.m. in downtown Fargo.

If you would like to ride the Dragon Express train, please email diversity@mnstate.edu or call 218-477-2476. Please indicate whether you plan to join us at the Physical Plant or when we arrive to the staging area downtown. Dragon Express train participants will receive candy to pass out along the parade route.

Fuzz Therapy Offered on Study Day

Join us in the Rainbow Dragon Center (Bridges 150) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 for Fuzz Therapy with dogs visiting from Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley! Students are welcome to visit the Women’s Center (Bridges 154) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on study day for snacks after spending some time with the canine guests.

Dragons AfterDark to host Tri-college Drag Show

Dragons AfterDark is partnering with Spectrum and the Rainbow Dragon Center to present the tri-college Drag Show this Friday in the CMU Ballroom. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show will begin at 9:30 p.m. The first 500 people will receive a free t-shirt! Take Back the Night Event to take place Thursday, Sept. 19

The 2013 Take Back the Night Event will take place Thursday, Sept. 19, on the campus mall. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with a free barbecue in front of the Science Laboratory. This will be followed at 6:15 p.m. with a program that will include speakers, music, and more. Following the program, there will be a march around campus to show solidarity with victims of sexual and domestic violence. The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil. American play “8” is tonight

You are invited to attend “8” an American play that portrays the legal argument and witness testimony of the Perry v. Schwarzenegger trial, which led to the overturn of California’s Proposition 8.

It will take place Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gaede Stage, in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts.

Take Back the Night event is Sept. 13

A barbeque and music by singer-songwriter Kris Kitko will kick off the 2012 Take Back the Night event Thursday, September 13, on the MSUM campus mall. Events begin at 5:30 p.m. and include a poetry slam, speakers, a march around campus and a candlelight vigil.  The event is free and open to the campus community.

Take Back the Night events seek to increase awareness of violence against women. In the United States, one in five college women have been raped at some point in their lifetimes, according to One in Four, a national non-profit working to end sexual assault and rape on university campuses.
