Pulse Mentorship Program

Students and staff from SPECTRUM and the Rainbow Dragon Center are excited to announce a new mentorship program to support LGBTQ+ college students in the Fargo-Moorhead community. The Pulse Mentorship Program is a LGBTQ+ mentorship program that matches LGBTQ+ students with LGBTQ+ or ally mentors from the Fargo-Moorhead community. This program seeks to create a safe space for students to be themselves and explore their identity, provide resources and guidance, engage in open dialogues and discussion, assist in navigating workplace or school environments, help develop goals for their future plans, connect students to the larger LGBTQ+ community, and offer support.  Read the rest of this entry →

Hayden Kristal: GaySL Workshop & Stand-Up Comedy

      Stand-Up Comedy Show | 7:30-8:30 p.m. | Gaede Stage

Hayden Kristal (they/them/theirs) is a Deaf, bisexual, Jewish, transgender activist and stand-up comedian. Living their life at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities led them to a career as a professional speaker exploring the intersections of disability, gender, sexuality, particularly within the spheres of activism and social justice. They have brought their funny, engaging, and interactive workshops and speeches to dozens of conferences and schools all across North America. In 2016, they delivered their first TEDxTalk, and were the recipient of a Catalyst Award from the University of Missouri, for their dedication to creating change for and within the LGBTQ community.  Read the rest of this entry →

MSUM sponsoring, participating in Fargo-Moorhead Pride

MSUM is a proud sponsor of and participant in Fargo-Moorhead Pride.

On Saturday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. stop by the MSUM booth at Pride in the Park (Island Park, Fargo) to say hi to SPECTRUM student leaders, Admissions staff, and Rainbow Dragon Center staff.

MSUM students, faculty, and staff are invited to ride the Dragon train during the FM Pride Parade on Sunday, Aug. 13. Those wishing to join us on the Dragon Express train should meet at the Physical Plant between 1:00-1:15 p.m. or meet us downtown by the parade staging area (corner of NP and Broadway, Fargo) at 1:30 p.m. The parade begins at 2 p.m. in downtown Fargo.

If you would like to ride the Dragon Express train, please email diversity@mnstate.edu or call 218-477-2476. Please indicate whether you plan to join us at the Physical Plant or when we arrive to the staging area downtown. Dragon Express train participants will receive candy to pass out along the parade route.

Rainbow Prom

Fuzz Therapy Offered on Study Day

Join us in the Rainbow Dragon Center (Bridges 150) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 for Fuzz Therapy with dogs visiting from Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley! Students are welcome to visit the Women’s Center (Bridges 154) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on study day for snacks after spending some time with the canine guests.

Dragons AfterDark to host Tri-college Drag Show

Dragons AfterDark is partnering with Spectrum and the Rainbow Dragon Center to present the tri-college Drag Show this Friday in the CMU Ballroom. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show will begin at 9:30 p.m. The first 500 people will receive a free t-shirt! Bring your friends for free snacks and drinks while you enjoy a fabulous show from professional and student performers.

Take Back the Night Event to take place Thursday, Sept. 19

The 2013 Take Back the Night Event will take place Thursday, Sept. 19, on the campus mall. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with a free barbecue in front of the Science Laboratory. This will be followed at 6:15 p.m. with a program that will include speakers, music, and more. Following the program, there will be a march around campus to show solidarity with victims of sexual and domestic violence. The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil. Safe Zone trainings scheduled

Two Safe Zone trainings have been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5, 5-8:30 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 8, 1-4:30 p.m. These trainings are open to all MSUM faculty, staff and students. MSUM Safe Zone seeks to form a group of students, faculty and staff committed and trained to provide safe, non-judgmental and supportive allies for all MSUM community members in regards to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or questioning issues.
