2024 Open Enrollment: Oct. 26, 2023 – Nov. 15
2024 Open Enrollment begins next week!
Annual Open Enrollment is the only time during the year where you are able to make changes to your benefits without a qualifying life event. This year, open enrollment occurs from October 26, 2023 – November 15, 2023. All changes made during open enrollment are effective January 1, 2024. Take advantage of this opportunity to review and update your benefits elections!
What Benefits are Open for Changes?
All benefits except Short Term Disability are open for election and changes. This includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, Pre-tax Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, Optional Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), and Manager’s Income Protection Plan (Administrators and Managerial Plan only).
Do I have to Do Anything for Open Enrollment?
Yes! We encourage all employees to review their current benefit elections during open enrollment as action may be required. Get started by watching the 2024 Open Enrollment video, then follow the steps below:
1.Review the 2024 premium rates and coverage changes.
-
In lieu of online or in person training, SEGIP has provided benefits videos for your review.
-
Preferred One will no longer be an insurance carrier option effective 1/1/2024. If you have Preferred One as your medical insurance carrier, you will need to select either BCBS or Health Partners during Open Enrollment. If you do not elect either BCBS or Health Partners, your insurance carrier will be assigned to you by SEGIP.
-
Review your medical and dental Primary Care Clinic, as this impacts your out of pocket expenses such as annual deductibles, office visit copays, coinsurance, etc. If you are just changing your PCC and not your carrier, contact your carrier directly to make this change.
2. Make your changes in Employee Self-Service (login with your State ID and password). Detailed instructions can be found in the benefits enrollment section of Employee Self-Service.
-
Changes that CAN be made in Employee Self-Service:
-
Continuing or electing Pre-tax Accounts (MDEA, DCEA, TEA). You must make a new pre-tax spending account election during open enrollment each year.
-
Making changes to your current benefits.
-
Changing your medical or dental insurance carriers, adding/removing dependents, adding/removing coverages (excluding AD&D), increasing coverage amounts for optional insurance coverages, etc.
With the exception of Pre-tax benefits, all previously elected benefits will continue for 2024 if no action is taken.
-
Changes that CANNOT be made in Employee Self-Service:
-
Waiving Medical Insurance: Please review the waiving medical insurance page to determine if action is required of you.
-
Accidental Death & Dismemberment: Use the Optional Insurance Application for changes/enrollment in AD&D coverage.
3. IMPORTANT: SAVE and/or PRINT your confirmation page at the end of your benefits election checkout.
-
The confirmation page that appears at the end of your Employee Self-Service checkout is your “receipt” or proof of submission. SEGIP will not send you an email confirmation for your benefits elections changes. Please ensure you SAVE a copy of your confirmation page to confirm your 2024 benefits elections.
