MSUM offers pilot mid-semester classes for international students
Nine international students were ready to start classes at MSU Moorhead in August, but because the visa process for these students is often complicated, time-consuming and unpredictable, they were unable to do so. The outcome: they may not be able to study at their university of choice or their degree goals may be delayed.
MSUM is piloting a new program to meet the needs of these international students. An 8-week late-start program begins Oct. 10 through Dec. 6, giving admitted international students a way to stay on track and not fall behind. The program is tailored to incoming first-year students and offers 12 liberal arts credits.
Students will take the four courses together (COMM 111, FILM 180, THTR 130 & HSAD 218) to ensure student success within this compressed timeframe. They will then be able to register for spring courses of their choice with 12 completed credits on their transcript. This innovative pilot will meet international student needs and assist them in fulfilling their educational goals while working toward the university’s enrollment goals.
