New Faculty and Professional Learning Center
We are happy to announce that the Faculty Development Center has begun its transition to the Faculty and Professional Learning Center (FPLC). After several months of working with the Faculty Development Committee, administration, bargaining units, and others, we are ready to implement the change.
The Faculty and Professional Learning Center supports faculty and all staff in their continuous improvement and professional development by advancing effective teaching, scholarship, student-centered practices, and how we all support the university.
The FPLC has places and opportunities for you whether you spend your time in the classroom, student support, or the operations of the university.
What does the change mean?
- A broadened focus that seeks input from all employees about what they are seeking for professional development opportunities.
- A more intentional partnership with Human Resources, Office of Online Learning, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Library, Academic Success Center and many other campus partners.
- A new Faculty & Professional Learning Center Committee with extended membership with more representative voices to shape professional development opportunities, the annual Faculty & Professional Learning Day, and continuing the work on the mission and vision of the Center. Membership in the new committee is still being updated as bargaining unit leaders have been asked for appointments from their membership.
You will be receiving more information about a Celebration and Open House for the Faculty & Professional Learning Center, which will be from 11:30-1 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, in the Faculty & Professional Learning Center in the Library. There will be a brief program at noon, and throughout the open house, you can stop in LI 125 in the FPLC to learn about DragonCentral – FPLC’s and Online Learning’s new way to register for training and events, keep track of attended sessions, and keep up to date on professional learning events. Appetizers, beverages, and dessert too! You can RSVP via DragonCentral here: https://mnstate.campuslabs.com/engage/event/8175780 (Will require you to log in with Star ID and password).
