Dr. Aaron Quanbeck, a professor in the School of Communication and Journalism, moderated an online workshop titled “Covering Civil Unrest” as part of the 2021 Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association’s annual journalism conference. The workshop included KSTP-TV Videographer Dylan Jacobson, a 2001 graduate who majored in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. Also included were a KSTP reporter and producer who spoke about what it was like to cover the upheaval in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. They shared how conditions quickly changed on the ground, including when they were hit with pepper spray as police moved in to clear out the protesters.
