SNAP Eligibility Changes

Please consider sharing this very important information with your students.

A provision in the latest federal coronavirus relief package could have a major impact on our students’ lives. The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has been temporarily expanded to allow college students easier access to the program.

The provision lifted certain exemptions to eligibility criteria, making it possible for students with an expected family contribution (EFC) of $0 on their FAFSA, OR those who are eligible for state or federal work-study to enroll for SNAP. This means an estimated 3 million more students will be eligible for assistance. The new, temporary provisions will be in effect until 30 days AFTER the COVID-19 public health emergency is lifted.

Students are encouraged to apply online.
