macOS 11.0 Big Sur Update

On Thursday November 12th, Apple released macOS 11.0 “Big Sur” via the Mac App Store. The Information Technology department will be performing tests to confirm that supported services are working as designed with this new update. At this time, we are recommending that the campus community hold off on this upgrade until those services you use have been tested. The Information Technology department will continue to communicate with the campus community by the end of this Fall semester to keep you updated on that progress.

When will I be able to upgrade?

After the MSUM IT department has completed its testing and confirmed that those services and applications are working as designed, we will send a communication out informing of that.

What if I don’t know how to upgrade?

The communication informing of the completion of the testing will also include information on how you can contact the Helpdesk to start that process.

What changes are in the new operating system?

Do I have to upgrade?

No, the MSUM Mac laptops and desktops range in various operating systems mostly depending on software requirements to which operating system they need.

What if I have questions?
