Welcome back Dragons! Fall semester classes began on Monday, August 24, 2020. Please take a look at the following reminders:
As you return to classes for the fall 2020 semester, please check your schedule on eServices frequently. It is possible that updates have been made to your classes, so be aware of the time, where your classes are meeting, and what the delivery method is for the course (face to face, online, hybrid, etc.) Changes to the location of your classes can occur after classes have started, so you should continue to check your schedule during the first week of classes. Students are responsible for all deadlines and registration activity and are NOT allowed to sit in classes they are not registered for.
Drop/Add Deadline: The deadline for dropping a course(s) without financial penalty and/or adding a course(s) is August 28, 2020, at 4 p.m. No entry will be made in a student’s record if a course is dropped before this date.
Class Permissions: After the August 28 deadline, a student can no longer add courses via eServices. The new process is as follows:
- A student who wants to register for a course after the semester’s free add/drop period (first five days of the semester) will need to contact the instructor via email. The email needs to include the student’s name, student ID, semester, course subject and number, course ID, and # of credits (if variable credit course).
- If the instructor grants the approval, they will reply to the student’s email and copy in the Registrar’s Office (email@example.com).
- The Registrar’s Office will process the registration and email both the student and instructor to confirm.
Holds: If issues occur while trying to add or drop a course, it may be because of a hold or certain restriction on the course. To see a list of common reasons along with the error message and possible solution, go to the following link: Common Registration Problems
Withdrawal Deadline: Students may continue to drop classes after August 28, but will receive a ‘W’ on their academic record and will remain financially responsible for tuition and fees. Withdrawal deadlines vary for half term and full-term sessions. For most full-term sessions the deadline is November 23, 2020; however, we advise students to check their eServices for specific withdrawal deadlines for each course.
Waitlists: Waitlists for the 2020 fall semester courses will end on August 28. Waitlists are lists of students waiting to get registered for a course that is full. If a student is on a waitlist for a course, they will receive a notification sent to their mnstate.edu email account. The student will have 24 hours after being notified to go to eServices and register for the course.
If you have questions, please visit the Registrar’s Office Webpage or contact the Registrar’s Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great start to the semester!
