Dragons Care Plan Update: August 26, 2020
Dear MSUM Students,
We are halfway through our first week of classes for Fall 2020 and it has been wonderful to see students on campus. You are doing the important work of helping to keep our Dragon Family safe by wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and washing your hands. Thank you!
Today’s communication provides some important information about resources for you:
1) Resources for Success in Online Learning
Adapting to new or multiple course delivery methods can be challenging. Wondering about the difference between synchronous and asynchronous? Trying to figure out how to plan your time? As you get started this fall, the Academic Support Center has put together the Strategies for Success Guide – specifically designed to walk you through identifying important information about each of your classes, filling out a schedule that helps keep you on track, and identifying key resources to support you through the semester. Get started on the right foot by taking a few minutes to complete the guide. Additionally, check out these Online Learning Resources to help you navigate online learning and organize your time and resources for your varying class schedule. Want assistance or have more questions? Contact asc@mnstate.edu to get connected with an academic coach to help you plan for a successful fall.
2) Mental Health Resources
Many people are experiencing stress, anxiety, worry, grief, and depression related to the impact of the self-isolating behaviors that we need to do to help stop the spread of COVID-19. If you are feeling stress, please know that you are not alone! And, we have resources available for you. Counseling Services is available to meet with students in person and through Zoom; just fill out an Intake Form and you will get scheduled to meet with someone.
We are partnering with Learn to Live, an online mental health platform that provides resources to all MSUM students. To access these free and confidential programs visit learntolive.com/partners and enter the code: MSUM.
3) COVID Self-Assessment Tool
Everyone is required to complete the Self-Assessment Tool daily before we come to campus or leave our residence hall rooms. The tool can be found on the Dragons Care website; we would recommend that you bookmark it on your cell phone as a handy way to access this. We also have posters on external building doors with a QR code that will direct you to the tool.
4) COVID Reports and Accommodations
Submit the Student COVID-19 Report Form if you are experiencing any of these situations:
a. You are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or
b. You have been in close contact (within 6 feet for 15 or more minutes) with someone:
· Who might have been exposed to COVID-19
· Who is being tested for COVID-19
· Who has tested positive for COVID-19
Request accommodations due to COVID through the COVID-Request for Accommodations Form.
Remember to check back frequently at the Dragons Care website for updates related to classes, housing, activities, and more. And, follow @MSUMoorhead on Instagram for the latest Q&A.
Send your questions to DragonsCare@mnstate.edu.
