2020 Economics graduate awarded assistantship to complete M.S. in Applied Economics
Rebecca Weir, a 2020 MSUM Economics graduate, has accepted a Graduate Assistantship at the University of Minnesota beginning in fall 2020. Weir’s award includes a tuition waiver, health insurance, and a monthly stipend as she completes an M.S. in Applied Economics. While at MSUM, Weir researched both the decline in milk consumption, where she presented her findings at the Eastern Economic Association (EEA) conference in New York, and changing trends in food away from home expenditures. Growing up on a dairy farm near Sauk Centre, MN, Weir developed strong agricultural interests that motivated her undergraduate research topics and influenced her decision to pursue graduate studies. Weir is currently contributing to the University of Minnesota’s economic analysis of COVID-19 supply chains and will transition to research focused on the dairy industry.
