It’s Time! Tune in for the Student Leadership Awards
The time has finally come! Tuesday (April 28) at 7 pm we’ll go live on Zoom to announce the winners of the Student Leadership Awards and recognize those students who have completed the Dragon Leadership Program. If you are nominated for an award, know someone who is, or just want to support your fellow dragon community, then this is for you!
The ceremony will be co-hosted by MSUM students Alyssa Winkler and Spencer Van Beck. We hope you’ll be cheering at home while they announce the nominees and the award winners. If you dress up for the program, make sure you post it on your Instagram story and tag us (@MSUMStudentLife) to be featured. We’re so excited to see how you celebrate the night.

As a reminder of all the award categories, read below.
Student Organization Involvement Awards: This category of awards is to recognize involvement within a recognized student organization at MSUM. There will be one winner for each award.
1. Organization Advisor of the Year – This award is given to a student organization advisor who has gone above and beyond to empower the student members to increase the effectiveness of their student organization and has been a significant resource to those involved throughout the year. Nominations should come from students within the organization.
2. Organization Officer of the Year – This award is given to a student organization officer who has exhibited outstanding leadership for their organization during their term of office. They demonstrate the mission and purpose of their organization and have had a positive impact on their members and MSUM.
3. Organization Member of the Year – This award is given to a student organization member who does not hold an officer role and has made a significant difference through their commitment and interaction within the organization.
4. Up-and-Coming Organization of the Year – This award is given to a student organization that has contributed positively to the campus community and has either 1) excelled as a newly recognized student organization (recognized within the current academic year) or 2) has been an existing recognized student organization that has seen a re-growth in their member/officer commitment to furthering their organization’s purpose.
5. Club Sport of the Year – This award is given to a recognized sports and recreation student organization that has had an extraordinary year. Criteria considered would include overall team achievements, activities the organization has participated in, visibility, sportsmanship, scholarship, and developing positive interactions with members and the campus community.
6. Organization of the Year – This award is given to a student organization that has made significant contributions to the campus and/or surrounding community. This organization has gone above and beyond to transform the lives of others through their programming, education, and leadership. They have raised the bar for other student organizations and strive for excellence in all endeavors. They exhibit Dragon Pride.
7. Community Engagement Organization Award – This award recognizes a student organization that has made a mutually beneficial contribution(s) to the surrounding community through service and encouragement of members to engage in service.
8. Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Organization Award – This award is given to a student organization that actively promoted and supported inclusivity to positively enhance MSUM’s campus culture and improve the experience/awareness of diverse populations.
Individual Student Engagement Awards: This category of awards is to recognize individual student engagement. This may include, but not limited to, student organization involvement, student employment, academic achievements, internships, research, professional development, athletics, art, music, theatre, activism, community service, community involvement, and other engagement activities. There may be multiple winners for each award.
1. Outstanding New Leader Award – This award is given to a student in their first year at MSUM who has exemplified leadership through campus and/or community involvement as well as grit, heart, and humility.
2. Leadership Legacy Award – This award is given to a student in their last year at MSUM whose dedication and commitment has made a long-lasting, positive impact on MSUM and/or the surrounding community. They exhibit grit, heart, and humility.
3. Community Engagement Award – This award is given to an individual who has made a mutually beneficial contribution(s) to the surrounding community through service and encouragement of others to engage in service.
4. Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Award – This award is given to a student that actively promoted and supported inclusivity to positively enhance MSUM’s campus culture and improve the experience/awareness of diverse populations.
5. Grit Award – This award is given to a student that is resourceful, adaptable, and has shown outstanding courage to do what’s right. They have big goals and the tenacity to achieve them.
6. Humility Award – This award is given to a student that is inclusive, is a team player, seeks ideas from everyone, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
7. Heart Award – This award is given to a student that goes the extra mile for fellow students, is passionate about their purpose, and is fiercely loyal to MSUM.
Programming and Events Awards: This category of awards is to recognize student-led programs and events. There may be multiple winners for this award.
1. Outstanding Campus Program/Event Award – This award recognizes a student-led program/event for the exemplary planning, development and implementation of a creative and engaging campus program/event.
