Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Kayla Stenstrom
Meet MSUM’s new communication project coordinator Kayla Stenstrom. With prior experience in higher education, she is looking forward to tackling projects and finding ways to best tell stories at MSUM!
Start date: February 4, 2020
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I love working in higher education. I worked at another institution for six years and was in ministry prior to that and thought I was ready for a new challenge. I knew I wanted to stay in marketing and higher ed. which was perfect when the job came up.
Q: What unique experience or skills from your last job do you bring to MSUM?
A: I have worked in marketing for a while, particularly with project management. I try and get people to unite around a common purpose and figure out how we’re going to take a large project and break it down into manageable tasks.
Q: What energizes you at work?
A: Being around people. I’m a people person, if I don’t see a person for more than an hour, I need to walk around and talk to people. I love meeting people and building connections.
Q: What book are you currently reading?
A: I’m always reading several books. Right now, I’m reading “Yes Please” by Amy Poehler. I’m about halfway through that one and two other novels. I like the novels that make you think about what it means to be human and how we’re in relationship with each other.
Q: If you could only use three apps on your phone what would they be?
A: I would use Google Calendar, Google Keep, and Facebook. If I could sneak one more, Spotify.
Welcome to the #DragonFamily, Kayla. We’re happy you’re here!
