Sexual Violence Prevention Training

The university enrolled students in the training course based on the State of Minnesota requirements of those who must complete the training course. Thus, students did not sign up for the course directly but indirectly by enrolling here at MSUM. Please note: if a student has been a victim or are a survivor of sexual violence or relationship/domestic violence, please contact Title IX Coordinator directly for an alternative* training.

The state legislation (Mn Statute § 135A.15), which was considered final August 1, 2016, states that the training must be completed within the first 10 days of the first semester enrolled, indicating that students taking one or more courses on campus or participating in on-campus activities who are pursuing a degree or certificate as well as students taking courses through PSEO must be included. The legislation indicates institutions to include other students as defined. As a public institution, we have no limits or restrictions from individuals coming to campus and participating in any activities here. We also recognize sexual harassment and sexual violence are not limited to the campus community. Thus, our online enrolled students are included.

There is not a charge to students for the training course.

The course is located in the university D2L Brightspace portal. Most students complete the course in one to one and a half hours.

A student’s completion of the course by the January 24, 2020 deadline date will be verified through D2L. They do not need to print their certificates. There will be a hold placed on a student’s account for failure to complete the training course.
